About Leap’N Learn

Leap’N Learn is an effective, safe, and developmentally appropriate dance program that will take your child from the basics of creative movement dance classes to beginning ballet.

Designed by master teacher Beverly Spell and expert child psychologist Dr. Annie Spell, this curriculum for dance lessons combines the healthiest practices for teaching children ballet technique. At the same time, simultaneously encouraging pretend play in our children’s dance classes creating a positive and nurturing environment.

Capitalizing on children's naturally occurring cognitive and neural development, the Leap’N Learn curriculum provides the tools and shares knowledge necessary for creating a successful learning environment in the dance class. Through an appreciation and utilization of natural development, students in Leap’N Learn dance lessons will acquire motor, cognitive and social skills beneficial for success in life.

Your child will focus on ballet in Elementary 1 and 2. In Elementary 3, jazz and acrobatics are introduced.

While working on basic steps, strength and stretch, your child’s confidence will soar as they discover their unique self-expression through fascinating imagery, pantomime, and engaging material used in their dance classes.

This level includes those important ages in your child's development, ages 6 and 7, where your child develops independence. They begin to create and move through the world with a better understanding of their place in it and how things work as their memory, attention span, and impulse control increase.

Our Elementary 2 students are working hard on strengthening their motor and cognitive skills. These classes allow your child to improve their hand-eye coordination, balance, large and small muscle coordination, and musicality by repeating steps and using props and obstacles.

Between the ages of 9 and 11, children develop the ability to use logical operations and reasoning, where their sensory and motor development grows exponentially. During these ages, we focus on new exercises that challenge and help grow each dancer's physical and mental development.

In our Elementary 4/5 class, students are working on a jump exercise that helps them improve their attention span, hand-eye connection, coordination, and the proper use of plié to take off in jumps and landings
