Ballet East Youth Ensemble
Our Ballet East Youth Ensemble program was established to provide advanced dancers with a pre-professional experience that delivers individual attention, increased artistic development, outstanding performance opportunities and private events.
BEYE and BEYE II members will benefit from working as a corps in weekly technique classes, rehearsals and exclusive master classes. Selected members have the opportunity to represent Ballet East at local and national events. Dancers are expected to act as role models, set a positive example and be supportive of others in and outside of the school. BEYE dancers have been recognized at many prestigious competitions both as a group and as individuals. Merits have been awarded at the following acclaimed competitions: American Dance Competition, Youth America Grand Prix, Indianapolis International Ballet Competition, Universal Ballet Competition and National YoungArts Foundation.
How to Audition for BEYE
Students may audition for the Ballet East Youth Ensemble (BEYE) in one of three ways:
1. Attend the Summer Repertory Intensive
July 27 – August 7, 2026
Throughout the intensive, faculty members carefully observe each dancer's technique, artistry, work ethic and potential. Students are evaluated for acceptance into BEYE and placed in the appropriate ensemble based on age and ability.
Dancers will also begin learning repertoire for the upcoming season, allowing them to start the year prepared and confident.
2. Attend the BEYE Auditions

Audition Times
Junior 2-4: 9:45–11:00 AM
Pre-Professional: 11:00 AM–12:15 PM
Elementary 3-5: 11:15 AM–12:30 PM
Elementary 2: 12:45 - 1:45 PM
3. Schedule an Individual Audition
If a dancer is unable to attend the Summer Intensive or August auditions, please contact us to arrange an in-person audition during the student's regular class time.

BEYE is designed for motivated dancers who demonstrate a strong work ethic, commitment to their training, and a positive attitude. Placement is based on technical ability, readiness, maturity, and the needs of the ensemble.

While technique classes focus on skill development, BEYE focuses on performance, choreography, artistry and teamwork. Ensemble members work together to prepare repertoire for competitions, community performances and special events throughout the year.

Yes. BEYE participates in select competitions that are chosen to provide positive educational experiences and opportunities for artistic growth. Competitions students participate in include: American Dance Competition, Youth America Grand Prix, Indianapolis International Ballet Competition, Universal Ballet Competition and National YoungArts Foundation.

In addition to their regular training schedule, BEYE dancers attend rehearsals, performances, competitions and special events throughout the season. Commitment levels vary by age and placement within the ensemble.

Solo opportunities are reserved for dancers who have demonstrated the technical ability, maturity, work ethic and performance quality necessary to successfully prepare and present a solo. Because solos require a significant level of responsibility and individual preparation, not every dancer will be ready at the same time.
