Our Ballet East Youth Ensemble program was established to provide advanced dancers with a pre-professional experience that delivers individual attention, increased artistic development, outstanding performance opportunities, and private events.
BEYE and BEYE II members will benefit from working as a corps in weekly technique classes, rehearsals, and exclusive master classes. The BEYE program also provides the unique opportunity to participate in select competitions, non-profit events, local performances, and outreach programs to better enrich our community. These experiences will further develop technique, knowledge, confidence, morale, and artistry.
BEYE and BEYE II members that are selected, have the opportunity to represent Ballet East at local and national events. Dancers are expected to act as role models, set a positive example, and be supportive of others in and outside of the school. BEYE dancers have been recognized at many prestigious competitions both as a group and as individuals. Merits have been awarded at the following acclaimed competitions, American Dance Competition, Youth America Grand Prix, Indianapolis International Ballet Competition, Universal Ballet Competition, and National YoungArts Foundation.
How to Audition for BEYE
Students can audition for the BEYE program in three different ways:
Attend the Summer Repertoire Intensive (July 14 - August 8, 2025)
Throughout the intensive, faculty members will closely observe each student to assess their performance and abilities. Based on these observations, students will be evaluated for acceptance and placed into an appropriate group, considering factors such as age and skill level.
During this intensive, students will focus on learning repertoire for the upcoming BEYE season, giving them a head start and ensuring they are fully prepared to begin the season with confidence and strength.
Attend the BEYE auditions at the beginning of each season
Auditions will be held on August 23, 2025, at Ballet East
Audition Times:
Junior 1-2: 9:45 - 11:00 am
Pre-Professional: 11:00 - 12:15 pm
Elementary 2-4: 11:15 - 12:30 pm
Elementary 1: 11:45 - 12:45 pm
If the dancer is unable to attend the audition or intensive, please reach out to us to arrange an in-person audition, which will be scheduled during the student’s regular class times.
This program is comprised of the top 15% of students at Ballet East that exhibit the following characteristics:
A significant level of leadership qualities
Consistency with regard to setting a positive example
Exemplary work habits and deportment
A high level of trust, coachability, and an openness to learn
A physique possessing the various attributes (structure, proportion, flexibility, line)
A high level of time management and commitment to the artform
